Reliable and scalable source
Zero "quality fade"
Significant cost savings
The client, a successful TV show producer, wanted to capitalize on their strong brand by launching their own merchandise line to capture higher profit margins. Their initial attempts at sourcing directly from China were filled with problems. While initial samples from factories were relatively good, the quality would plummet unpredictably during mass production.
This "quality fade" culminated in a disastrous incident where their trusted manufacturer, secretly outsourced production to a cheaper, substandard factory. The client received a container full of unusable products, forcing them to sell the items at a steep discount and risking significant damage to their brand's reputation. They knew they needed an expert team on the ground to prevent this from ever happening again.
A recurring and costly issue where the mass-produced goods suffer a significantly drop in quality, inferior to the approved samples and previous productions.
The client was unable to verify if the factory they vetted was the one actually producing their goods, leading to a complete loss of control. Lack of supply chain visibility causing fears of problems in Supply Chain Sustainability & ESG.
With only one person handling procurement internally, they lacked the capacity and local expertise to properly manage a diverse supplier base in Asia.
Being forced to sell a large volume of poor-quality merchandise at a discount directly hurt their bottom line and posed a threat to their beloved brand.
Step 1 / October 2023
The client discovered Buying Office Asia at an licensing exhibition in London. Having learned from their past negative experiences, they immediately recognized the value of having a dedicated, expert team on the ground in Asia to protect their interests.
Step 2 / November 2023
We established a preliminary production plan for the first orders and began sourcing specialist manufacturers. We identified and rigorously vetted a number of manufacturers finally selecting a combination of three different factories, each a specialist in one of the key product categories (textiles, plastics, backpacks), and negotiated favorable pricing.
Step 3 / December 2023
BOA’s team assisted the client in finalizing the designs for three new products to complement their two existing ones. We then managed the entire sampling process through 1-2 rounds of revisions for each product, creating "Golden Samples" and preparing quality assurance plans, purchase order drafts and molds for mass production.
Step 4 / March 2024
We launched a complex, multi-category first production run that included backpacks, blankets, electronic plush toys, bed linens, and plastic figurines. Each product line was managed at its respective specialist factory, ensuring every item was retail-ready. BOA monitored the manufacturing and conducted thorough Pre-Shipment-Inspections at each factory site, reporting everything back for the client.
Step 5 / February 2024
The client and their distribution channels were extremely satisfied with the consistent, high quality across all product lines. BOA now manages their entire merchandise supply chain, providing transparent reporting and seamless logistics. The client simply places orders and can trust the process, stress-free.
